This set was originally scheduled in the Universal Japan SACD 2004 release. I was quite excited as I had never had, or heard, this set in any format, and really looking forward to the sacd release. On 7 November 2006 Bernard Haitink led the Royal Concertgeboux Orchestra in a jubilee concert commemorating his 50th anniversary of his first appearance with the orchestra. This recording of the Mahler Fourth Symphony is from that concert. I wish they'd have these jubilee concerts more often!

Well, in distinct contrast to two of the posted reviews, I really liked this recording, in most every way. One really needs another T5 in the way one needs another M6 recording. This new RCO Live release is a very good one. I’ve come to be very impressed with the sound of the Concertgeboux Orchestra in live concert as captured by the Polyhymnia recording team.

Another wonderful disc from Pentatone!!!!! Joseph Schmitt was also known as "the Dutch Haydn" as many of his compositions were credited to the "real" Haydn. You can read much more about Joseph Schmitt in the very good notes by Simon Murphy.
