I highly acclaim this release, because I missed a good DSD-recording of the Strauß-Walzer. Concerning the sound all is said in the above review: One of the best PentaTone-recordings, warm and full, compared for example with the new Schostkowitsch or the Mozart violin concertos, which sound a bit dry.
My rating of the interpretation is a bit less critical: Kreizberg emphasises the melancholic, sometimes morbid parts of this well-known music. For example the Emperor-Waltz gets rid of its military charcacter and sounds new in my ears. I like this perception! On the other hand Kreizberg sometimes distends his concept, so I sometimes would like to hear more of the the contrasts and inner tension of the music. I cannot give five points, but recommend this disc because of its overall qualities and high repertoire value.
