Discussion: Beethoven: Symphony No. 4 - RPO/Wordsworth

Beethoven's "Wellington's Victory" sounds breathtaking on multi-channel SACD! I have Herbert von Karajan's account (DG) of this work, but Wordsworth's performance is much better! Cannons shots are satisfying - be careful with your subwoofer - and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra plays purely.

What you think?

Have you (or anyone else) heard Beethoven: Egmont, Wellington's Siege - Vriend as well? Any comparisons would be welcomed.

Membran has published many multi-channel albums in their "Royal Philharmonic Collection". Are they real 5.1? I want to hear your thoughts.

They're all upsampled from 20-bit stereo recordings made by Tring in the 90s.

I have listened this several times now with subwoofer. The impression is - in that case - awful; the bass side is too "heavy".
My listening room is quite small - 6 x 8m - so I have to be careful when I'm listening with the subwoofer. The all recordings of Membran are remixed to the 5.1 surround sound. The results aren't always impressive.
Has anybody else heard this on surround?

I'd just disconnect the subwoofer and see how it sounds.

Also, while they did all of these as individual issues, the way to get these is as part of Beethoven: The Symphonies - RPO
