Hallo, this is one of my top 10 SACD's. Very emotional and delicate performance. You can tell that this woman feels Chopin to her bones. Can't get too much of that music. Good recording as well.

Hallo, I just love this SACD. It is so calm and simple. I put it on repeat often and don't get bored with it. One of my favorites. Great surround sound as well.

SACD surround sound with stereo tube amplifier

What can I say? Life is full of compromises. Speaker placement, WAF, money... I guess I will continue to be happy with my 4.0 tube arrangement. 5.0 would mean a transistor preamp and 5 tube mono blocks. My wife would put me into the mental house. And then again. How can anybody be happy with 5.1 or 7.2, if around the corner 14.4 is already ... more

hallo, i can adjust the relative speaker output volume in the NAD M5 menu. For example front speaker +-0 and rear speaker - 6 db. This way I could adjust the 2 stereo amplifiers in a way that 10 oclock volume at the front speaker amplifier will be also 10 oclock for the rear speaker amplifier. Best result of course if the calibration is set up with ... more

Hallo and thanks for your comments. I think that 4.0 works fine with 2 stereo amplifiers. I can adjust the rear speaker volume via the rear amplifier volume. But for 5.0 I would indeed need a central volume control. The NAD player allows speaker distance adjustment. So a OPPO player with central volume control would make it possible for me to use ... more

hallo and thanks for the 5.0 idea. I thought that a third speaker in front would just create an additional unnecessary acoustic problem with the right placement and reflections. The stereo image in front I find good so far, but I can give it a try with an active speaker. Good idea. But I am actually surprised to not hearing more about my ... more

hallo, no, no. The NAD is a stereo amplifier as well. The NAD M5 SACD player makes the downmix. You can go into the set up menu and choose between 5.1 or 5.0 or 4.1 or 4.0. All the amplifiers have to do is to amplify ;) best regards, mika ... more
